Its a nice looking coin, but not sure exactly what it is or what is so special about it,can anyone enlighten me please
Mega,
It's a silver 3-cent piece made from 1851-1873 and is one of the smallest US coins ever produced, behind the gold $1.00 coin which was minted roughly at the same time. These 3-cent pieces are very thin and weigh less than a gram, and have a diameter of only 14mm.
The only coin harder to detect would be the Type 1 Gold $1.00 piece, which has a diameter of 12.7mm but weighs slightly more than the elusive silver 3-cent piece due to the density of gold.
Most definitely...the stuff dreams are made of! :surprised:
