Some great info here Todd :)
I am also wondering about ground-notch settings. I've seen elsewhere how to memorize hot-rocks and compensate for them with ground-notch. I don't typically encounter hot-rocks but the whispers at the end of my swing do fake me out sometimes...as they do when swinging over some depressions.
Are you simply cranking up the ground notch until falsing is eliminated? Or do you have some other approach?
I'm definitely looking forward to trying the ground-notch in the woods...
So is that how and why you are using ground-notch?
Thanks again!
Jim
I'm not exactly sure how the ground notch works on falsing but it does help.I learned about the use of it from Andy, reading and trial and error of course and have seen my unit be more stable with its use and no downside as far as I can see. The range that you engage it for is dependant on your area and what you commonly see for ground readings as you detect. My normal Ground numbers are 70-90 and hence my setting. Yours may be different.I'm just looking for the most stable program I can come up with. This particular program is what I have come up with so far by trial and error. I am digging very deep targets on a regular basis with minimal chatter going on. I have walked around England for a week and never saw the Ground reading leave 90 so I don't know how much help it would be there. But as you know over here it can be all over the place. I'll be out this Sunday and try it again. Good luck
