Re: 0 disc ??
I hunt old homesteads, railroad lines, etc. I have been hunting with the Deus about 2 years now. 0 disc, full tones, -1 silencer, 18 khz. Seperation and unmasking in heavy iron nails, scrap tin, iron...

A good move, you can use disc at 1 with the same effect. A little easier on the ears.

I find no reason to hunt with zero discrim. I don't believe the loss of the horse shoe functions is an advantage. As you have read there is no apriecable loss of depth up to 10 discrim. I personally...

I do hunt in a lot of iron. The old homesteads here in the mountains all seem to have a blanket of nails. Thanks for the input I am definitely listening to all opinions.

howdy....Will be getting my xp this Friday...I don't understand why you would disc out at 8....then notch out 8 thru 30....why not just disc out to 30??? Sorry for dumb question Ron
View ArticleRe: what tricks other then xy
You lose depth after disc above 10. Disc at 8 and Notching 8 - 30 no depth loss, but same effect as if it were discriminated to 30.
View ArticleRe: 0 disc ??
Perhaps you don't loose depth at discrimination 10, I have found you can loose signal clarity on deep targets, especially if you search iron contaminated sites. Use 10 but don't ignore deep sounding...

Awesome! Didn't know that. Thanks. Still trying to figure out what reactivity and silencer are? Lol. Will keep reading. Thanks

I have hunted both ways,, disc O full tones, and 3 tones disc 6. You will find more nonferrous targets in heavy iron using full tones 0 disc. I have compared signals over some of the toughest signals...
View ArticleTracing cast iron pipe?
A friend has asked me to try to trace a 6" cast iron pipe from his house out to a un-located septic tank. It appears that this pipe could be as much as 36" below ground. Is the 11" coil likely to be...

Having done this before, I would suggest that you'll have better luck locating the lid/cap to the septic tank... It's big metal, and won't be too far below the surface. Just go all metal and listen to...
View ArticleRe: 0 disc ??
I also prefer 0 Discrim in the heavy iron. Not because of additional depth but because you will get a cleaner signal on an iron masked target. But a little bit of Discrim will actually make the iron...

my hopes with V4: better target ID values on deep targets, have the ability to use ID norm function in a different frequency other than 18 K if I was able to use 12 K I would be able to knock out Iron...
