X/Y Screen

I have seen a few posts on the X/Y screen but I don't recall this question being asked. Is the X/Y screen a fixed representation of the TID number and regardless what program or other settings you use it always shows the same? Or if you change certain settings like discrimination will it alter the X/Y screens output ? I don't know if I can ask this right but, say you had a coin that normally in basic-1 displays as junk is it possible to alter the settings so it appears as good and will appear good in the X/Y screen or for the X/Y screen it makes no difference to the other settings. I don't think that sounds right but its the best my twisted brain can do :)
